Dromintee u12.5 travel to Tyrone tournament.
Dromintee U12.5s travelled to the Derrylaughan club in Tyrone today to take part in a 9 a side tournament. There were 32 teams invited from across Ulster and the standard was extremely high.
Dromintee were the only club at the tournament to enter 2 teams which is a reflection of the strength in depth across the panel at this age group.
The first team were drawn in an especially difficult group along with Errigal Ciaran, Ardboe and St Brigids Belfast. (These 3 teams would go on to win the Cup, Shield and Plate respectively).
Dromintee lost their first match against an excellent Errigal side but with comprehensive wins over Ardboe and St Brigids progressed to the knockout stages of the cup.
Dromintee then played a very strong Cookstown team, and despite leading at half time, just missed too many chances to close out the game and were edged out in the last few minutes.
The second Dromintee were also dealt a tough hand and competed in a group against the first teams of Ballymaguigan (Derry), Naomh Brid (Donegal) and Coalisland.
Dromintee competed well in every game and the workrate of the boys was an absolute credit. They progressed to the plate competition where against the odds they defeated Naomh Eoghan (Tyrone) in the quarter final but unfortunately they just came up short in the semi final against Galbally Pearses (Tyrone).
So a tough day at the office for both teams but all the boys can hold their heads high, they represented the club with the highest distinction, competing against the cream of clubs from across Ulster, and if they can continue with the hard work at training, the wins are only a matter of time.
The coaches would like to express their thanks to the parents for giving up their day to get the kids to the tournament and then for ferrying the players between the two host venues. We really appreciate the effort.
