Over 25 coaches attended tonight’s Return to Play seminar to help adjust to the new demands presented by social distancing during sessions.

All coaches are to ensure that the mandatory health questionnaire is completed for players before their return.

A broad overview was given with regard to the new off fields protocols firstly. Parents will be met with a new one way system as they drop off and collect kids.

Checks will be made to ensure each child has their own water bottle and hand sanitisation stations will be placed adjacent to the pitch.

The coaches then had two practical sessions overseen by Marty and Aidan O’Rourke.

Marty focused on the basic skills for the younger age groups with an emphasis on pass and move and the execution of basic skills.

Aidan then geared his session towards the older age groups. Particular attention was given to a proper warm up to avoid injuries after the lay off.

Conditioned games blended with fast distribution of the ball was the primary focus thereafter.

Coaches are reminded of their responsibility to ensure all balls and equipment are sanitised after each training session.

The numbers attending demonstrated the desire to get back out on pitches from this weekend.

Anyone with any questions can contact Aidan as coaching officer or any club officer.
